Forging and Railroad Spike Chisel

When: March 11, 9:00am-3:00pm

Where: Old School Makerspace (2659 Eisenhauer Rd.)

What: Learn to transform a railroad spike into a chisel for woodworking, using traditional blacksmithing methods. Students will learn the basics of heating metal in a forge, shaping it using a hammer and anvil, and grinding and sharpening a beveled edge on it. After class, the instructor will temper the steel and students will put a final edge on their chisels during the March woodworking meetup.

Cost: $125. This class will run with a minimum of 4 students and a maximum of 6. If this class does not receive sufficient registration, you will be notified the week of the class and your tuition will be refunded.
